About Us

The Ice Age National Park Citizens Committee was created by Ray Zillmer in July, 1958--five months before he founded the Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation of Wisconsin, Inc. (which later renamed to Ice Age Trail Alliance, Inc.)--to advocate for an Ice Age National Park in Wisconsin. Zillmer died in 1960 but part of his vision came to pass in 1980 when the Ice Age National Scenic Trail was designated by Congress and the President. It is time we return to Zillmer's vision of the National Park Service owning the land for certain key segments. Today the Ice Age National Park Citizens Committee is committed to the goal of having the National Park Service acquire land for the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
